The
first step is drawing the blood from the
vein. A trained laboratory technician called
“Phlebotomist” usually performs
this. Alternatively a doctor or a trained
nurse could also do this. In many cases,
blood is drawn from the vein located near
the outer portion of the arm near the elbow.
Phlebotomists are trained
to efficiently handle this process which appears simple, yet
requires considerable skill and care. If done correctly, the
needle poke is usually painless
At Anand Lab, for walk-in
customers, this procedure is handled at the sample collection
station, near the registration counter.
